Ajinkya Rahane to lead team India in the 1st test against New Zealand

After a lot of meetings and a lot of discussion, it looks like the board has finalized a name to captain in the first test against New Zealand. Ajinkya Rahane, who has won India a tremendous series in Australia, is very likely to lead team India in the absence of Virat Kohli, who is taking a rest after being in the biobubble for quite a long time.

Rohit Sharma’s name was first discussed to be the test captain in the first match. However, a recent report claims that he might get rest in the entire test series and thus Ajinkya Rahane’s name was finalized. The vice-captain of the test side will once again have a lot to prove. After his century in the second match at Australia, he didn’t make a lot of runs to earn a place in the test team. Thus, the batsman Rahane needs to prove that he still belongs in the team and can win matches for the nation.

According to reports, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur will also be given rest in the test series against New Zealand. Virat Kohli is expected to come back in the second test and Wriddhiman Saha will be the first choice keeper in both the tests with KS Bharat as the possible back-up.

A lot of things are happening in Indian cricket and the fans can’t wait for it. After a disappointing T20 World Series, the fans expect them to turn around against the Black Caps and win comfortably in their backyard.
