Australian T20 League 2022

Match 29- SCO vs THU

Preview

The battle of the table toppers SCO and THU will occur in the Perth Stadium at 03:45 PM IST on the 4th of January, 2023. Both teams are favourites for this game, as they both are on a winning streak. SCO stands on top with 5 wins in six games, followed by THU, who have 4 wins and 3 losses in seven matches.

Perth is currently unstoppable. They are doing great in every department. They got some fabulous services from Josh Inglis and Faf Du Plessis in batting. Both are the highest run scorers till the end of the sixth game (Inglis - 234 runs; Du Plessis - 162 runs). In bowling, The ‘2Js’ of SCO (Jason Behrendorff and Jhye Richardson) are their key asset. Both have 13 wickets in their bag and also getting superb assistance from Andrew Tye, who has had ten wickets till now.

On the other hand, Thunders shocked everyone after that historic defeat in the second game. They have had a topsy-turvey tournament till now as they began their season with a one-wicket thrilling win, then they lost three matches one by one. But now, things have changed after they thrashed HEA by ten wickets. Now they are riding the winning horse and resting in the second position on the table.

THU also has some fantastic match-winning players. They got the opening hitter Alex Hales and Oliver Davies, who gave them an excellent start to the innings. Hales and Davies are the top run-getters for THU, making 245 and 168 runs in seven matches. THU amazed everyone with their bowling performance too. Their bowling is unlike SCO’s, which revolves around only two to three bowlers. They have Fazalhaq Farooqi, Daniel Sams (highest wicket-taker for THU with 11 wickets), Gurinder Sandhu, and Nathan McAndrew, who took wickets at crucial moments.

This match will be a streak-ending match for both teams. It will be interesting to see which team’s winning horse will get laid.

Pitch and Weather Report

We always see a good game of cricket on the Perth pitch. But as it could be challenging to reach the target of more than 160 runs, batting first should be the best course of action.

There is currently no probability of rain. The weather will be good for playing, with a high of approximately 32 degrees Celsius. It will primarily be 50% humid. The wind speed of 18 km/h will assist the swingers for sure.

Hot Fantasy Picks

Wicket Keeper

Josh Inglis: The Australian wicketkeeper-batter recently scored 47 runs off of 34 against the Renegades. In only six innings, Inglis has scored 234 runs at an incredible average of 46.80 and a strike rate of 156.00 in the Australian T20 League 2022–23.

Batters

Faf Du Plessis: The batting of SCO revolves around Faf Du Plessis, as he can bat in any mode (aggressively and steadily). He has scored 162 runs with an average and strike rate of 27 and 163.63, respectively. Faf could be your fantasy team’s C/VC on this pitch.

Alex Hales: Alex Hales scored 245 runs in 7 games with a strike rate of 145.83 and an average of 40.83. He opens the inning for the Thunders and can give some quick fantasy points. Hales can be an excellent C/VC option for your team as well.

All-Rounders

Daniel Sams: Daniel Sams has been good with the bat and exceptional with the ball. Sams have 50 runs in this tournament (as batting in the lower order). But THU is enjoying his bowling as he’s the leading wicket-taker from his side.

Aaron Hardie: Aaron Hardie got some wicket exposure in the early games, but he played some fabulous knocks this season for SCO. He is one of the prime all-rounder assets of SCO.

Bowlers

Jhye Richardson: Jhye Richardson got four wickets while facing STA at Perth Stadium. With 13 wickets from six innings and an economy rate of 6.29, he is now the joint-highest leading wicket-taker for the Scorchers. In the most recent game, he took a crucial wicket of Martin Guptill against the Renegades.

Gurinder Sandhu: Gurinder Sandhu could be a good pick for your fantasy 11. He picked up 8 wickets till now with the economy figures of 7.62.

Match Prediction

Both teams are looking best at this stage. Any team can win this game, but if looking at the team's strength and current stats, we are backing SCO to win this game.
