Australian T20 League 2022

Match 51: HEA vs STA

Preview

The Heat (HEA) and Stars (STA) will square off in match number 51 of the Australian T20 League 2022-23 at Gabba, Brisbane on Sunday, January 22. HEA led by Usman Khawaja are placed fifth in the league standings with 11 points and a net run rate of -0.592. After once tottering at the bottom of the table, Khawaja and co now have a chance to go to number 3 displacing Renegades (REN).

With a win in their recent clash against the Hurricanes (HUR), HEA are currently on a three match winning streak. Micheal Neser became the Player of the Match after he finished the game with impressive match figures of 3/27. In the batting department,  Matthew Renshaw scored a well compiled 41 to propel his side to a competitive first innings total of 162.

STA on the other hand are already out of contention and are currently positioned at the bottom of the table. They lost their most recent game to HEA by three wickets. Matt Renshaw held his nerve in the last ball thriller to hand STA their ninth loss of the tournament. After putting up a score of 159 for seven on the back of Nick Larkin’s 36 ball 58. HEA in reply chased down the total in the ultimate ball.  All they can now play for is pride or be party spoilers for others.
