Aus T20 League 2022

Match 52: SCO vs REN

Preview

On Sunday, January 22, the Scorchers (SCO) and Renegades (REN) will face off in Match No. 52 in the Aus T20 League (BBL) 2022-23. The game will be held at the Perth Stadium.

The Scorchers, led by Ashton Turner, are one win away from reaching the next round. They are currently placed at the top of points table with 20 points and a net run rate of +1.242. Another win will put the SCO at the top of the league standings at the end of the league stages. They are coming into the game fresh off a seven-wicket win against Travis Head's   Strikers (STR) at the Adelaide Oval. David Payne was named Player of the Match after ending the game with impressive match figures of 3-0-20-3.

The Renegades (REN), led by Aaron Finch, are third on the table and cannot move any up the ladder even if they win their next two games. They will enter the encounter fresh off an eight-wicket loss to Thunder (THU) at Canberra's Manuka Oval.

REN scored 142 for the loss of nine wickets after electing to bat first. Will Sutherland hit an undefeated 23-ball 42 to help his side to a competitive total. However, Matthew Gilkes' 74 off 55 balls led the Thunder to an eight-wicket victory.

Pitch and Weather Report

The pitch in Perth has been a sporting one. The run-scoring hasn't been difficult, but the bowlers haven't gone home empty-handed either. Fielding first after winning the toss is the best option.

For the time being, there is no prospect of rain. The temperature will be approximately 27 degrees Celsius, and the humidity will be moderate.

Hot Fantasy Picks

(i) Wicket Keeper

Josh Inglis: The in-form wicketkeeper batter made  22* off 16 against the Strikers in the last game and is presently the Scorchers' second-highest scorer with 399 runs from 12 innings.

(ii) Batsmen

Aaron Finch: The veteran Australian batter scored 22 runs off 23 pitches against the Thunder in the last game and leads the REN scoring charts with 279 runs from 12 innings.

Ashton Turner: The SCO skipper remained unbeaten at one against the Strikers. He has scored 242 runs from 11 innings this season.

(iii) All Rounders

Will Sutherland: The in form all rounder scored an unbeaten 42 with bat in hand then just conceded only 20 runs from his three overs against Thunder in the last game. He has scored 173 runs and has picked seven wickets so far this season.

Aaron Hardie: The young sensation maintained his hot streak by scoring 43 runs off 30 balls against the Strikers in the previous game. He leads the SCO batting charts with 412 runs scored in 12 innings.

(iv) Bowlers

Lance Morris: The up and coming pacer continued his red hot form with three wickets against the Strikers in the last game. Expect the Australian international to carry forward his decent form in the competition.

Andrew Tye: The in-form bowler got a wicket while allowing 15 runs against the Strikers. Tye is currently the leading wicket taker in the competition with 23 wickets in 13 innings.

Match Prediction

SCO have won five of their six games at Perth Stadium. Beating them at home will not be easy for the Renegades. We predict the hosts to win this encounter.
