Babar Azam shares his ambition to lift the World titles!
Babar Azam wants to live his childhood dream of becoming World Champion!
The captain of the Pakistan side, Babar Azam is living his best days as a cricketer. Claimed as one of the best batters of the generation, the 27-year-old has scored 181 runs in 3 One Day Internationals against the West Indies and helped the team win another bilateral series on their home turf. He however knows the bigger picture. Since their success in 1992, the country hasn’t tasted any success in the ODI World Series. They did win the 2008 T20 World Championship and lifted the Champions Cup in 2017 but it is time for them to make it back and players like Babar Azam will play a crucial role in order to do so.
Pakistan was playing really good in the T20 World Series in 2021 but one bad day in office changed everything. However, they still have a chance to win it in 2022 and the team will leave no stone unturned to do so. Speaking to AFP, the captain did mention that it is his childhood dream to play well and win all the tournaments in the world. He said, “When I started playing cricket as a schoolboy the target was to play international cricket for Pakistan, become the world's top batsman in such a manner that helps my team to win all the titles”.
Speaking more profoundly about his ambition to lift World titles, ‘King’ Babar said, “But with this form my prime goal is to win the two World Cups for Pakistan in the next one-and-a-half years and if that happens will feel that my runs are worth gold”.
Babar also mentioned that he used to follow AB De Villiers while growing up and used to imitate his style. “When I was a kid, I used to follow AB de Villiers. I liked the way he used to play the ball on the up. It was delightful for me so I developed that and it helps me get even with the bowlers”, Babar said.
