Ben Stokes named in England's squad for the forthcoming T20 World Series

England announced their 15-member squad for the T20 World Series which will take place in Australia from next month. The same squad will also play against Australia in the three-match T20I series in October just before the beginning of the T20 World Series. Ben Stokes has been added to the England squad and he last featured in a T20I match last time in March 2021.

England will dive in with their seemingly settled line-up of players, only Jason Roy will miss out. England have also named their reserve players namely Tymal Mills, Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson. The last two will also be a part of the 19-member squad for England’s tour of Pakistan which will also take place just before the T20 World Series.

T20 World Series Squad: Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

Reserved Members: Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson, Tymal Mills

Phil Salt, the current man in form as we can see his devastating form in the ongoing Men’s Hundred Tournament will replace the vacated spot of Jason Roy. The Lancashire opener made his T20I debut last year and has featured in four games for his country so far. He has a massive strike rate of 150.31.

Pacers Mark Wood and Chris Woakes have recovered from their injuries and have also been placed in both squads. Liam Livingstone and Chris Jordan will continue their recovery from ankle and finger injuries respectively and will miss out on the Pakistan tour. Hopefully, they will be fit for the marque event that will take place later in the same month. Jos Buttler will be with the team for the Pakistan tour but will miss the initial part of the series as he will be on medical observation for his calf injury. Moeen Ali will lead the team in the absence of primary skipper Jos Buttler.

This will be the first time since 2005 that England will get on a tour to Pakistan also they have a squad with five uncapped players. Olly Stone has made his ODI  and Test debuts but will first time be in the squad for the T20Is. Also, Tom Helm, who represents Middlesex and BPH (The Men’s Hundred) has also received their maiden call-up while Lancashire’s Luke Wood has also been added to the squad. He was also part of England’s squad for the recent tour to the Netherlands but was in the dugout as he missed a place in the Playing XI.
