Carse ruled out of Champions ODI Cup
England’s bowling all-rounder Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the Champions ODI Cup 2025 due to a toe injury. Carse played England’s opening game against Australia where he scored 8 runs and took a wicket while conceding 69 runs in 7 overs. Legspinner Rehan Ahmed has been named as his replacement.
In the lead-up to the Champions Cup on the recent tour of India, Carse played four of the five T20Is and one of the three ODIs before being replaced by Jamie Overton in the second game in Cuttak. He (Overton) will most likely slot into the XI in England’s next Champions Cup game against Afghanistan on February 26.
Rehan, who was not given a chance in the ODIs against India, joins the squad having featured in six One Day Internationals for England before. He will bolster England’s spin bowling attack that possesses Adil Rashid, Joe Root and Liam Livingston.
