Chris Silverwood steps down as England’s head after a poor Ashes series!

It was inevitable and now it has been confirmed that Chris Silverwood has stepped down following a poor series against Australia in the Down under. England lost the prestigious Ashes series 4-0 and literally nothing went right for them. Previously, the team lost against New Zealand in their home turf and is losing against India 2-1 in their backyard. Thus, it can be easily concluded that his time in the last one year has been very poor and the team wasn’t getting the result that they were eyeing for.

It can be said that nothing is right in England cricket at the moment. Former England skipper Mike Atherton has called out the management and Ashley Giles, the person who hired Silverwood has also left the building. Many legendary cricketers have called Joe Root out as well. The captain is trying to save his team with the bat in hand but as a captain, he hasn’t done anything special till now. Thus, the time is not very good in England at the moment.

Before vowing, Silverwood spoke to the press and said, “It’s been an absolute honour to be England head coach, and I’m extremely proud to have worked alongside our players and staff”.

He added, “The last two years have been very demanding but I have really enjoyed my time with the team and working with Rooty (Joe Root) and Morgs (Eoin Morgan), and I’m very proud of this group considering the challenges”.

The chief of English cricket Board Tom Harrison has confirmed that former England opener Andrew Strauss will take charge of the matter and appoint a coach for the before the West Indies tour. In a statement Harrison said, “In the coming days Andrew Strauss will appoint a caretaker coach for the tour of the West Indies and will then consider the appropriate coaching structures to help England move forward”.

If reports are to be believed then batting coach Graham Thorpe could also be released from his duties. A lot of names are currently being discussed internally and the name of Justin Langer is also there in the mix. Former Australian opener is the current head coach of the Australian team and his contract is coming up pretty soon. England wants to try their luck in order to get this legendary player but it is not going to be an easy task at all.
