Former banned Cricketer Salman Butt is appointed as the ‘Consultant Coach’ of the Singapore team!

Former Pakistan Captain who was banned from cricket for five long years is set to make his return in the International circuit. The Singapore national team has offered him a job of being the ‘Consultant Coach’ of the team. His first responsibility will be to help Singapore do well in the Qualifications for the T20 World Series. However, the question remains, what kind of message does the board want to send to all the young cricketers of Singapore?

Butt has suffered his guilt and deserves a second chance to prove but to be in such a position of a young cricketing nation can be a bit risky. He played for Pakistan from 2003 to 2010 and has represented the nation in 33 Tests, 78 one-day internationals and 24 T20 matches. During his tenure as a test captain of the side, Mohammed Amir and Mohammed Asif were found guilty of fixing the match and it was found out that the captain was aware of everything that was happening.

The head of Singapore doesn’t want to focus on the negatives as Saad Khan Janjua said, “Butt is an accomplished player with experience that can push the players to the next level”. The 37-year-old will also bring a ‘Wealth of Experience’ according to the board.

After completing his suspension, Butt played domestic cricket and never got an opportunity again! If he remains humble and treats everyone with respect, his second innings can be much better than that of his first.
