Warner now has 45 international centuries equal to Sachin as an opener

The second Test match between Australia and South Africa is being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Australia’s left-handed batter David Warner has achieved a major achievement of his career in this match. Warner is playing the 100th Test match of his career.

He has made a significant achievement by scoring a century on his 100th test. Warner scored his 25th Test century in 144 balls. He has achieved his Test century after almost three years. The opener also completed his 8000 runs in Test cricket.

Warner made his Test debut 11 years ago after playing only 11 first-class matches, is the 14th player and the third opener to play 100 Tests for Australia. He is at number seven among the openers who have scored the most runs in Tests, where he now has 25 centuries to his name.

This is the second-highest by an opener from Australia. Only four Test openers have more centuries than Warner. Of the 118 batters who have scored at least 3000 Test runs since 1992, only Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist have done it quicker than Warner.

The 36-year-old David Warner has become the 10th batter in the world and the second Australian to score a century in the 100th Test. Before him, only Australia’s former skipper Ricky Ponting achieved this milestone. Ponting scored centuries in both innings of his 100th Test. Ponting did this against South Africa in Sydney in the 2006 New Year Test.

Warner is only the second batter in cricket history to have scored centuries in his 100th Test and 100th ODI. Warner also scored a century in his 100th ODI. He scored a century against India in Bangalore in 2017. Before Warner, West Indies’ Gordon Greenidge was the only batter who scored centuries in his 100th Test and 100th ODI.

With this century, Warner has equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record of scoring most international centuries as an opener. Warner now has 45 international centuries equal to Sachin as an opener. This is Warner's first century after January 2020 after 27 innings.

As soon as Warner scored his century, his wife, who was sitting in the spectators' gallery, also jumped with joy. At the same time, his daughters also started clapping on their father's achievements. Warner also greeted his family and the spectators who came to watch the Boxing Day Test match by giving them a flying kiss.
