Indian cricket squad for the T20 World Cup 2020 out

On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India surprised cricket fanatics all across the nation appointing former Indian skipper MS Dhoni as the mentor of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. The near unflappable nature and quick thinking to read the game situations of MSD would be a huge asset for team India in a format where thinking on one’s feet is the need of the hour. With the return of India’s beloved Captain Cool, team India will once again be under the superintendence of the prolific trio of Kohli, Shastri and MSD himself. The much awaited reunion has created a massive buzz among the fans and they are hoping their team will repeat 2007 heroics. On the very day, the 15 member squad for the T20 World Cup was also announced. The wrist spin duo of Yuzvendran Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and ace opener Shikhar Dhawan were among the notable absentees from the squad. Rahuk Chahar and Varun Chakravarty were selected ahead of the Kul-Cha leaving many of us in a state of bewilderment. R. Ashwin has also earned a comeback after a 4 year hiatus in the limited overs format. His success in white ball cricket is unparalleled and it was just a matter of time for the 34 year old. Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are picked out as reserves for the event.

Squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami.

Reserves: Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur
