England and India will lock horns in the second T20I at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Saturday, Juy 9. India won the opening game by 50 runs to go 1-0 up in the series. They will now look to carry forward the winning momentum and gain an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series. The hosts on the other hand will eye a comeback. 

England were taken by surprise by India’s brilliance on the field. After being asked to bowl first, the English bowlers gave away too many runs in the powerplay itself. They did well to pull back things a little but Hardik Pandya’s late blitz helped the visitors post a competitive total of 198. In reply, England lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually fell quite a few runs short.  Moeen Ali was the star performer for the hosts with both bat and ball. The explosive all rounder took 2 crucial wickets with the ball and then scored a brisk 36 to keep his side in hunt. Ahead of the series decider, the hosts will need to address their batting woes which is supposed to be their stronger suit. The batting department is studded with the likes of Jos Butler, Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone who are very able with bat in hand. Bowling prowess is slightly inexperienced with Reece Topley and Matt Parkinson in the mix. Chris Jordan will shoulder the bowling responsibility for the hosts.

India will be heading into this contest oozing with confidence. They put on a great all round show to overpower their opposition in the last game. Hardik Pandya’s clinical display with both bat and ball helped the visitors triumph. Batting first India put on a formidable total of 198. Suryakumar Yadav (39) and Deepak Hooda’s (33) quickfire knocks provided an ideal launchpad for Hardik Pandya. The 28 year old scored a blistering 51 off 33 balls to propel India to a healthy total. He then picked 4 key wickets with the ball to seal a magnificent victory for his team. Rohit Sharma will be hoping Pandya to continue his good form. The skipper will also be eyeing a big knock against a relatively fragile England bowling lineup.  He alongside Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav will hold the key for India in the batting front whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had an excellent start to the series will lead the bowling attack which also has the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh.
