In short, it’s safe to say that it’s a new age rivalry between these two nations. England is currently the champions of 50 over cricket while New Zealand is the champions of test cricket. Who can come out on top in the shortest format of the game? Will Jason Roy’s injury cost England the match or New Zealand’s slow batting rate against tough oppositions will make them suffer? England has evolved as a giant in the white ball cricket. They have won 4 out of their five matches in the Super 12. They did lose to South Africa in the last match but the team has the potential to beat any team in the world. However, Jason Roy’s injury will hurt the team. He along with Buttler used to give the perfect start which Malan and Bairstow used to capitalize later. With Roy out of the picture, England has three options - Liam Livingstone, Bairstow and Malan. The depth of the squad is scary as well. The team can bat up to number 8 but they might just struggle in the bowling department. Liam Livingstone is a part time bowler and may not be very handy against New Zealand. Thus, they only have five bowlers in their rank and if not used properly, they might struggle against the Black Caps. Buttler will have a huge responsibility. He has been tremendous with the bat so far and he needs to keep up for England to win their second T20I World Series.

New Zealand on the other hand is a much more compact side. They have been playing some good for a long time now and getting results in their favour. Yes, they have missed out on the trophy on numerous occasions but winning the test championship should inspire them to clinch the trophy of the shortest format. Kane Williamson has been a tremendous leader. His vision is helping the New Zealand team to reach new heights in World cricket and every pundit across the globe agrees that he is one of the finest captains that the world has ever seen. In order for him to win the title, Martin Guptill and Mitchell need to give New Zealand the perfect start. Their run-rate is normally slow against top oppositions and that needs to change. They have to score quick runs and these players will be important along with the captain. When it comes to bowlers, Ish Sodhi has been terrific so far. Boult and Southee will have the responsibility to destroy the top order and if they are successful in doing so, Ish Sodhi and Santner can be handy in the middle order. In short, they have the capacity to beat England. Maybe with a bit of luck, they can!
