PAK vs ENG, 2nd Test

Preview:

The second test series match between Pakistan and England will be played in Multan from 9 December. England is ahead 1-0 in the three-match series. Pakistan will be eyeing to level the series by winning the Multan Test, while the English team would like to seal the series.

The English team scored a lot of runs in the first test. Jack Crawley (122), Ben Duckett (107), Ollie Pope (108), and Harry Brooks (153) scored centuries. In the second innings, Jack Crawley (50), Joe Root (73), and Harry Brooks (87) scored half-centuries. England scored a total of 657 runs in the first innings and 264 runs in the second innings (declared for 7 wickets). Pakistan's bowlers looked helpless in front of the English batters.

The bowlers of the visiting team were also seen in color. English bowlers all out Pakistan both times on the lifeless pitch of Rawalpindi. Will Jacks took 6 wickets in the match. At the same time, James Anderson and Ollie Robinson took 5-5 wickets. Jack Leach took three wickets against Pakistan, while captain Ben Stokes showed the path of the pavilion to Babar Azam in the second innings.

Pakistan's batters performed very well in the first innings but could not do much in the second innings. Abdullah Shafiq (114), Imam-ul-Haq (121), and Babar Azam (136) scored centuries for the hosts. At the same time, Saud Shakeel was the top scorer of the second innings. Shakeel scored 76 runs. Pakistan scored 579 runs in the first and 268 runs in the second.

Pakistani bowlers proved costly. Zahid Mahmood took 6 wickets in the Test match with an economy of 7.25. Naseem Shah took 5 wickets with an economy of 6.08. Whereas Mahmood Ali achieved 4 wickets with an economy of 5.52. The team's gun bowler Haris Rauf got only 1 wicket in the whole match. He has also been ruled out of the series due to injury.

Pitch and Weather Report

The pitch was the major point of discussion in the first game between Pakistan and England. The narrative will be active for the second game, too. Multan has not hosted a Test since 2006 and hence, it will be interesting to see how the pitch behaves in this match.

The average score batting first in Multan is 344. However, on many occasions, we have seen top scores being made at this venue. Sehwag, in 2004, hit a triple-hundred in Multan. This still happens to be the best batting display on this track from team India. The maximum temperature during the five days could hit as much as 24 degrees Celsius only.

Match Prediction

The way England played in the first test match has shown their intention that they are not here for a draw but to win the test match at any cost. The aggressive approach from both the English coach and the captain Ben Stokes has already made it clear they play in such a fashion and not to worry about the result. We say England to win this test as well.
