Ben Stokes backs Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad amidst the rumour of their retirement

After serving the country for decades, the duo of Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad was dropped all of a sudden when England decided to tour the West Indies. More or less, everyone is aware of the fact that England aren’t strong when it comes to pace bowling and thus dropping them created a confusion regarding the future of these two legends. The board said that they want to give young guns a chance but at what cost? They lost the series against West Indies and the then captain Joe Root has definitely missed two of his warriors.

Time changed and a lot of things changed in England cricket. Joe Root has been dismissed as the captain of the test side and Ben Stokes has been appointed as the one. There were a lot of eyes on Stokes as the fans of the game wanted his opinion on the duo of Anderson and Broad and the captain played it safe but in a way backed the pacers.

“I have made it pretty clear to Rob (Managing director, England Board) and he’s on the same wavelength as me. You pick your best XI players. If Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson are fit, they are definitely a part of that”.

The ball is now in the court of these two legendary pacers. They just need to prove themselves fit enough for International cricket and then they can continue their job and lead England towards a new direction and to a greater height. In an interview to Sky Sports, Stokes also said that it will be “stupid to never consider them for selection”.

Looks like Stokes wants a future with Anderson and Broad as England doesn’t really have a backup ready. The team is desperate to get the results and in their next series against New Zealand, expect them to be a part of the squad. Despite the series being just one month away, England is yet to finalise their head coach. After the Silverwood era, a lot of names are discussed as the name of Gary Kirsten seems to be the favourite. When we will see the announcement is something every fan is eagerly waiting for!
