Harbhajan Singh wants Umran and Bumrah combination for India at the T20 World Series

The young sensation from Jammu has been in the headline for quite some time for his sheer pace and raw ability to destroy opponents. Harbhajan Singh, the legendary cricketer believes India should take advantage of it and immediately train him for the T20 World Series. The tournament will be played in Australia and India can actually use someone who can regularly clock at 150 kmph and that will help India massively. The pitches in Australia often help the pacers as the bowl carries really well and it’s a threat for the batters.

“Malik is my favourite. I want to see him in the Indian team because what a bowler he is. Tell me any one bowler who bowls more than 150 (kmph) and isn't playing for the country”, said Harbhajan when he was asked about this young sensation.

Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Umran can cause some damage and help India lift their 2nd T20 World Series is what the legendary spinner believes. The story of Umran Malik is pretty inspiring as well. Born at Jammu, Umran faced a lot of difficulties but emerged victorious as he has been a very dependable cricketer for the Hyderabad franchise. He was retained ahead of the mega auction and with Dale Steyn as his coach, he can only get better.

“So I think, it is a great, great thing and he will inspire many youngsters to take up this game, the way he has come from and what he is doing at the Indian T20 League, he has been unbelievable. I don’t know whether he will be selected or not, but if I was a part of the selection committee, I would have given him a go ahead (for his selection). Malik should partner with Jasprit Bumrah when India plays in Australia (In the T20 World Series”, said Harbhajan Singh.

However, can he cope up with the pressure that’s there in International Cricket? The off-spinner answers, “See there is more pressure in international cricket, there is no doubt about it, but I think he (Umran) has played enough Indian T20 League games against a lot of the top players of the world playing in this competition and he has taken their wickets and some of the Indian batters he is bowling to are also brilliant players. So, pressure will be there, whether you play against Bangladesh or Netherlands or Australia or England, any game you play for India there will be added pressure and that's what makes you a cricketer what you want to be. I am sure he will also learn, he is a promising cricketer and I hope he gets selected and plays for India”.
