Batting first Skipper Matthew Wade alongside fellow opener D’Arcy Short stitched a 111 run partnership giving the Tasmania based team a flying start. While Wade was the aggressor, Short played the second fiddle to his skipper. Caleb Jewel’s late blitz helped the team reach a mammoth total of 213. Hurricanes then dominated the match with ball in hand. Rain halted the start of the second half and the match was reduced to 18 overs. Sixers tried hard but eventually fell short by 44 runs. Scorchers couldn’t have asked for a better start to this season. They have been unbeaten so far and would remain to extend their win streak. Colin Munro was the chief architect for the three time champions victory in the last fixture. Munro smocked Striker bowlers to all parts of the ground and slammed his career best (AUS-T20) 114* to help his team pile up a gigantic total of 195. Strikers in return could only score 146 runs. Jason Behrendorff threefer pegged back the opposition batters and didn’t allow them to get going. Scorchers will be keen to gain all four points and move to the top of the ladder.
