Hurricanes will host Stars in match 19 of the Aus T20 League 2021 on Christmas eve on Friday. Matthew Wade’s men are going through a rough patch currently, having lost two back to back matches against Scorchers by a considerable margin. With six points in their kitty, Hurricanes are placed at the sixth place in the league standings. Stars on the other hand, have had a roller coaster of a tournament so far. Despite putting up a decent batting show against the Sixers in their previous game, Maxwell’s men lost the tie by 7 wickets. With 2 wins and 2 losses, Stars are currently positioned at fifth in the points table. 

The men in purple have all the required resources to turn things around in the tournament. The batting department has the services of Matthew Wade and D’arcy Short at the top who on their day can make a meal of the opposition bowlers followed by Caleb Jewel and Mcdermott at three and four respectively. The lower order comprises hard hitting all rounder Tim David whose cameos at the back end can make a significant difference. Batters have done well in patches but have failed to maintain consistency. Bowling is a matter of concern for Wade’s army. Nathan Ellis and John Thompson have done all right but nothing noteworthy yet. Sandeep Lamichane has been far from his best and has been miserable thus far. The 21 year old is a key part of this Hurricanes bowling setup. Skipper Wade will be hoping the Nepalese to deliver the goods on Friday. 

In spite of a great batting display, Stars came second in their last fixture. Bowlers felt the wrath of Josh Phillipe as he finished the game with an unbeaten 99. The bowling charge is led by Australian international Nathan Coulternile who has not had a happy Aus T20 League 2021 so far.  Right arm medium pacer Brody Couch has been the pick of the Stars bowling but has been a touch expensive. The spin duo of Qais Ahmed and Ben Hinchleffe have not played to their fullest potential and hence are unable to bamboozle the opposition batsmen. The men in green will have to be more patient and consistent with ball in hand to defend the targets.
