The much-anticipated test between India and Sri Lanka is finally on us. Rohit Sharma will debut as a red ball captain while King Kohli will take the field for the 100th time in test match cricket. Both these stalwarts of Indian cricket will have a special day and a special match but the pressure will completely be on Sri Lanka. After getting white-washed by India in the T20I series, they will look forward to change their fortune and derail India’s plan. On the other hand, India will look forward to bring some laurels to this very special match for two of their most important players of this modern age.

Sri Lanka, as a test side, has established themselves quite well. They are at the top of the World Test Series table with a 100% win record. If they can keep up with the momentum, they might even cause an upset and move an inch closer to the finals. The Lankans have a very good pace bowling line-up. The pace attack has put India in trouble for a handsome number of times in the past but this Sri Lanka team looks a bit tired and exhausted from all the cricket they have played recently. When it comes to batting, Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Niroshan Dickwella will be crucial. If they get a good start, they can put India under some kind of trouble.

The Indian team looks very much sorted as they clearly have a roadmap. They have let Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma go and some young guns will have to fill the shoes of these legends. Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihar are in the team is a welcoming sign as these youngsters can bring a lot to the table which the senior batters failed to.
