India Test team to play warm-up match against Leicestershire

Indian cricket teams will play a few warm up matches in England before the tour in June-July. As per the information received from the England and Wales Cricket Board, the red ball squad, which has a test in Birmingham from July 1, will play against Leicestershire County Cricket Club in Leicester from June 24.

It will be a four day match, which is supposedly a first class game as well. The Indian test team comprising all the regulars will fly to England around June 16.

Besides the four day fixture, India’s white ball side, which will arrive in England after playing a couple of T20I games in Dublin, Ireland, is also expected to play a couple of warm up ties against Derbeyshire and Northamptonshire on July 1 and 3 respectively. India will play three One Dayers and as many T20 Internationals in England between July 7 and 17 after the test series concludes on July 5.

A prominent feature of the whole arrangement is that two Indian teams will be in action simultaneously, in two different countries. While the Indian T20I team will be playing in Ireland on June 26 and June 28, the Indian red ball team will be involved in the first class game at the same time in Leicester.
