India could travel to Pakistan for the Asia Series 2023

India's visit to Pakistan for the Asia T20 in 2023 will certainly be subject to clearance from the government. But right now it is surely on the agenda of the Indian Cricket Board

The Indian Cricket Board circulated a note among all the state associations on Thursday just ahead of the Annual General Meeting on October 18. The list contains India’s engagements in the multilateral events next year.

Major International/multi-nation events held by International Cricket Board in 2023

Team India will be participating in the following events in the next calendar year :

  • Women's T20 World Series, South Africa

  • Women's U-19 T20 World Series, South Africa

  • Asia ODI Series, Pakistan

  • Cricket ODI World Series, India

Pakistan are scheduled to host the Asia ODI Series in the latter half of 2023 after which the ODI World Series will be held in India. According to the AGM note, the Indian Cricket Board has assured clearance for travelling to Pakistan which has been on the blacklist since 2008. India took part in Asia Series which was the last international event held in Pakistan.

The Indian Cricket Board officials were hesitant to make a statement but the matter of significance is the fact that the Indian Cricket Board secretary, Jay Shah, is also the president of the Asian Cricket Board. "It will be subject to the clearance of the Government of India as always," said an Indian Cricket Board official. There is always the alternate option of hosting the marque event in the United Arab Emirates, like this year's Asia T20 Series, but the Indian Cricket Board’s statement seems to be specified otherwise.
