15th Match: DV vs MIE

The middle phase of the International T20 League is getting heated up with teams trying to get to the top of the league standings. DV and MIE are in sublime touch winning three out of their four matches played so far in this tournament.  But the fact is they both lost the opponents they faced yesterday. Thus it is clear that it will be a head-to-head battle between two teams out of which one can climb and become the leader of the league. 

DV posted a huge total of 195 runs at a loss of 4 wickets in the first innings of the game. Alex Hales alone smashed 99 runs off just 57 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. He was assisted by Colin Munro (38 runs), Sherfane Rutherford (27 runs), and Rohan Mustafa (23 runs). Their momentum was somewhat lost at the end of the innings but they ended up scoring 23 runs off the last 3 overs. But they ended up losing the match in a last-over thriller. Sheldon Cotrell was the best bowler from the side with the figures of 2/24 but failed to help his team to win. Tom Curran, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Gus Atkinson picked a wicket apiece but failed to restrict the run flow. Their fifth bowling option gave away 50 runs in a total of 4 overs which resulted in their loss against GG.

MIE on the other hand, drafted a score of 206/5 while chasing a total of a mammoth 223 runs in the game against DC. In the beginning, they were struggling at a score of 26/3 after which skipper Keiron Pollard (86 runs) led the counterattack with Andre Fletcher (37 runs) holding the game from the other end. Other batters such as Najibullah (30)  and Samit Patel (18) played good cameos and kept ticking the scoreboard but were unable to complete the run-chase.

Their bowlers gave away 22 runs in the match against DC. Skipper Keiron Pollard, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Zahoor Khan took one wicket each but gave away 10+ runs per over. Trent Boult had the best bowling figures who had economical figures of 4-0-26-0.

Both teams are in good form with some of the most clinical victories in their games so far. MIE demonstrated their batting power in the previous game despite losing the match because of poor bowling in the first innings giving away too many runs. DV also posted a huge total against GG, but was led down by the bowling side. We think MIE has a slight niche over DV and fancy them to win this match.
