Preview 

India’s mini tour of Ireland concludes with the second T20I which will be played on Tuesday, June 27 at Castle Avenue, Dublin. The visitors will have the upper hand coming into this game. They were clinical in the inaugural match and would be keen to continue their domination. Ireland on the other hand will seek to avenge the previous loss and level the series.    

Rain delayed the start of the last match and it was eventually reduced to 12 overs.  Led by Hardik Pandya, the men in blue restricted the hosts to 108. Harry Tector quickfire 64 propelled the home side to a competitive total. For India Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal were on the money with ball in hand. While Kumar struck with the new ball, Chahal made valuable contributions during the middle overs. Needing 109 for victory India started the run chase on a bright note. Ishan Kishan took Irish pacers to the cleaners. He smashed them to all parts of the ground before getting bamboozled by Craig Young in the third over. In the very next ball, Young got Suryakumar Yadav trapped in front of the wicket to put India in some pressure. Hardik Pandya then alongside Deepak Hooda stitched a crucial partnership and took the game beyond Irish’s reach. Ruturaj Gaikwad calf niggle led to Hooda’s promotion at the top of the order and boy he didn’t disappoint. 

Despite being on the receiving end, Ireland did have some positives from the opening game. Harry Tector had a great outing in the last game and will be hoping to continue his good batting form. Craig Young was impressive with ball in hand and would be looking forward to carrying the good show. Skipper Andrew Balbirne and veteran batsman Paul Sterling missed out in the last game.
