Stress Fracture rules Jasprit Bumrah out of the World T20 Series 2022

India have suffered a huge blow ahead of the forthcoming World T20 Series. Their  ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah is set to be ruled out for the tournament with a back stress fracture. While an official confirmation from the Indian Cricket Board is awaited, the sun is not shining bright for the men in blue as Bumrah pulled out of India’s series opener against the Proteas in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

The information of Bumrah’s injury was reported by the Indian Cricket Board just minutes before the toss took place at the Greenfield Stadium. Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India's practice session on Tuesday. The Indian Cricket Board  Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I," Indian Cricket Board had tweeted.

Bumrah, who had also missed the recently concluded Asia T20 due to back problem, and was rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy, played the last two T20Is against Australia.

Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It's a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months," a senior Indian Cricket Board official told PTI on conditions of anonymity

With the likes of Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar in the standby list for the T20 World Series, it will be fascinating to see who will replace Bumrah in the main squad.

Chahar had an excellent outing against South Africa might just get the nod ahead of Shami due to his better batting skills down the order as well.

India’s death bowling has been an issue of major concern and skipper Rohit Sharma himself has pointed it out. Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been under the gun due to his poor performances and the pressure to deliver will be on the shoulders of Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel in Bumrah’s absence.

Bumrah is the second star player to be ruled out after Ravindra Jadeja, who was earlier sidelined due to a knee injury.
