Kane Williamson and other senior pros are given rest for Europe tour!
Kane Williamson, Boult and other senior pros to miss the white ball tours in Europe!
As New Zealand is all set to tour Ireland, Netherland and Scotland, the Black Caps management has decided to give rest to their senior pros. With that, the likes of Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Devon Conway will get a much needed rest before the T20 World Championship.
Tom Latham has been appointed as the captain of the ODI team which will play three matches against Ireland. For the T20I against Ireland, Netherland and Scotland series, the selectors have appointed Mitchell Santner as the captain of the ship.
The four players that have been given some rest are currently in England for the test series. The board mentioned that these players were left out because of “commitment of player well-being” and rightfully so! All of them are travelling since the Indian T20 League and a bit of rest against relatively weaker sides can do a world of good to them.
The head coach of the New Zealand team, Gary Stead will also take a break during the Ireland tour but will be back in due course. Shane Jurgensen will replace Stead during his absence.
