Karun Rajitha steps in as a concussion substitute for Vishwa Fernando

Karun Rajitha has replaced Vishwa Fernando as a concussion substitute in the ongoing Chittagong Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. 

A Sri Lankan official confirmed the news on the third day of the test match 'Rajitha replaced Fernando as he is taken to hospital for an MRI,”.

Fernando suffered a massive blow on his helmet from a Shoriful Islam steepling bouncer before Tea on Day 2. While he batted for a few minutes after taking the hit, he didn’t accompany Matthews after Tea and only returned after the fall of the ninth wicket. 

He bowled four overs last evening and four more today (May 17) morning before heading back to the dressing room feeling unwell. 

Rajitha who is a like for like replacement for Fernando has played nine test matches for Sri Lanka and last represented them in the 2020 Boxing Day Test at Centurion.
