Match 41: KBFC vs. JFC
Preview
With 12 points from 7 games, both the teams are in the top four and the winner has the chance to build the gap with Mumbai and even topple them to become the league leaders. It however won’t be easy for either of the team. Both the teams are in some terrific form and the ability to win the match. Kerala will be coming with a lot of confidence after winning their last two matches pretty comfortably and maintaining a clean sheet in the process. Jamshedpur struggled in their last match against Bengaluru but defeated Odisha 4-0 in their 5th match of the season.
Greg Stewart scored a brilliant hat-trick in that match and he will once again be very important for the red miners against the Blasters. Jamshedpur also has a very strong defense with Peter Hartley being the heart of it. Ricky Lallamawma has also done pretty well in the left back position and the youngster also moves up during the attack and that helps Jamshedpur to have an extra player in the attack. It is also important for them to allow Ricky to move up in the pitch as the formation helps their formation helps the defenders but not much to the attackers. Along with Stewart, former Kerala player Jordan Murray will be the other striker and he will have a huge responsibility on his hands. Murray is not known for scoring a lot of goals. He needs to change that. Teams know how dangerous Greg can be and that’s why there’s always someone who keeps an eye on his movement. Murray needs to take advantage of that and put some pressure on the opposition's defense. The better he does that, the stronger Jamshedpur will be.
The head coach of the Jamshedpur team, Owen Coyle in the pre match press conference said, “They have got dangerous players and they are a dangerous team and that’s the thing, it’s not about the individuals alone but they work very hard as a team and they will be very dangerous opponents, tough opponents”.
Like said, Blasters will be coming with a lot of confidence. They have turned things around and surprised everyone by scoring six goals in the last two matches. Credit goes to Sahal Abdul Samad for converting the chances and also creating chances that his teammates are making. Sahal is not someone who is known for scoring goals, but he is doing so this season and this should be a positive thing for the Indian team. Stimac can and should use him as the number 10, where the player can flourish. Adrian Luna is one such player who transformed this club completely. In the last few years, Kerala was under a lot of pressure as they failed to keep up with the expectations from the fans. Things are changing now and he deserves a lot of credit for putting up some great performances in the last few matches.
In the pre match press conference, head coach Ivan Vukomanovic said, “We have to continue working hard and take it one game at a time and then we will see what the outcome will be”.
