“It’s just a matter of time. Once we start going, we will be unstoppable as a team”: Shreyas Iyer

Despite playing some good cricket in the last few matches, the Kolkata franchise isn’t getting the desired result. After a brilliant start in the tournament, the team is currently placed eighth in the table and the chances for qualifying for playoffs are very thin. The team needs to make a very strong comeback and then can dream of playing in the playoffs in front of their own fans.

Captain Shreyas Iyer is happy with how things are going but knows that they are just not getting the result. Rest, they are playing some good cricket overall. “We are ticking all the boxes to get on to the field and win matches. It’s just the execution part (where we are lacking). It’s just a matter of time. Once we start going, we will be unstoppable as a team”, said Captain Shreyas Iyer before challenging Delhi in the Indian T20 League.

Kolkata came close in the last few matches but failed to get the job done. The top four is very inconsistent and that is one of the main reasons why the team failed to choke the opposition. There is room for improvement even if the captain says that his team is ticking all the boxes.

Shreyas, former Delhi captain, aims to play in front of Eden Gardens by qualifying as one of the top two teams in the league. “We just got to know that the qualifiers are at Eden Gardens, so we will put our 100% efforts to see to it that we win the games and go out there and entertain the fans”.

Like already said, it is tough for Kolkata to qualify for the playoffs but the team has done something similar in the last year. You can never count this franchise out! Never.
