Coach Gerard is all set to make his debut in the Premier League

Steven Gerard, the legend of the game has won every possible trophy that is available in the business but never could win a Premier League title. The son of the soil has returned to the Premier League once again as the manager of the Aston Villa Football Club.

Interestingly, Aston Villa is 16th in the table and is very close to the relegation zone. On the other hand, Rangers are the league leaders of the Scottish Premiership, a club that Steven Gerard was coaching until now. Rangers were undefeated in the championship last season and won the title with 102 points in their ranks. Thus, the Villa fans should be more than excited about the arrival of Steven Gerard in their club.

Villa was expected to play some good football in the league this season. They have a very good squad who can finish in the top half of the tournament. They did let their top star Jack Grealish leave the club for Manchester City this year, but the team bought some good talent in the summer. The likes of Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins and others have the ability to cause havoc in the tournament.

In short, Steven Gerard has a good team in his hand. If managed well, the club can reach a very good place in the next couple of years. To succeed in such a competitive league, Gerard needs to be given some time and the results will be there in front of everyone.

Whether or not the Liverpool legend succeeds in Villa or not will be closely monitored. His former England mate, Frank Lampard was sacked from his job at Chelsea last year itself. Thus, there will be pressure on Gerard as the people will be eager to see whether he will turn out to be Zinedine Zidane or Andre Pirlo!
