Three massive points for Man United, qualifies for the knockouts of UCL

After a very shocking and a humiliating defeat in the hands of Watford in the Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired as the first team coach and Micheal Carrick, the former midfielder, was appointed as the caretaker coach. In such a moment, when nothing is working for the red devils and they are in a very turbulent stage, everyone stepped up and proved that if they play as a team no one can really stop them.

Villarreal are a very solid team. Last season they defeated United in the finals of the Europa League and honestly, they had the perfect chance to rewrite history. They did put pressure in the first half but the fire was lagging. They were expecting United to commit a mistake and that’s exactly where Villarreal made a mistake. They were playing safe. Something they should have avoided against United, a team which is already on the back foot.

De Gea was brilliant. The Spaniard has been in good form lately and saved United on quite a few occasions. At last, in the 78th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo delivered once again by scoring from a wonderful chip and with that United went 1-0 up. More than that, Jadon Sancho’s form should give United fans a lot of hope. The young Englishman was brilliant last night and also scored his first goal for the red devils in the 91st minute of the match and with that United win by 2-0 and have qualified for the knock-out stage of the Champions League.

Talking about Micheal Carrick’s approach in his first match as a manager, the former midfielder was very bold in his approach. He dropped Bruno Fernandes from the team and replaced him with Donny Van De Beek. Donny should definitely get the opportunity to play but that’s in place of Fred, not Bruno. He also dropped Rashford and played Martial who was non-existent for the majority of the part.

These decisions were shocking and questions would have risen if United would have lost the match. Good that it didn’t happen that way and they will probably qualify for the knockouts being the number one team in Group F. The encounter between Villareal and Atalanta will be a knockout one and the winner will play the Champions League while the losers will have to play the Europa League. United on the other hand will take on Young Boys in their last group stage fixture.
