Mark Chapman earns first NZC central contract

New Zealand Cricket have handed  batter Mark Chapman his first New Zealand Cricket central contract. The southpaw successfully takes the spot vacated by Martin Guptill, who was released from the contract earlier in November this year. 

Born and brought up in Hong Kong, Chapan has also represented his country of birth in 21 fixtures. He has featured for New Zealand on 27 occasions (22 T20I s and 5 ODIs) since making his debut back in 2018 and has also been a part of the last two World Series squads for the Kiwis. 

Gary Stead, who is the head coach of New Zealand appreciated the move saying “We're delighted to have Mark join the central contract list after being there or thereabouts for a while.

"He's a fine player and we like the versatility and innovation he brings to his batting.He's a guy with a lot of talent and we see him being a big part of future BLACKCAPS squads."

Chapman has also been selected for the forthcoming tour of India, starting on January 18.
