Covid scare in the Indian team, Mayank Agarwal has now been added to the squad

Just before the West Indies series, team India is once again suffering from the Covid scare. Three Indian players, Shikhar Dhawan, Rituraj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer have been affected along with stand-by player Navdeep Saini, physical trainer, driver and security personnel has also been hit by Covid. According to new reports, few other Indian team players are also affected by Covid.

The Indian Board has added Mayank Agarwal’s name for the series against the West Indies and it is very likely that the Indian opener will now be a part of the first squad and will open the innings with Captain Rohit Sharma. However, if the number of cases increases in the Indian camp, the tour might also get postponed. Both the boards are pretty much ready to reschedule the tour if there’s an urgent need. In that case, the series may begin on the weekend.

The entire team is in quarantine at the moment and will be there for two more days. A source from the board told TOI, “As of now, the board’s medical team is monitoring the situation and is yet to confirm all the positive cases”.
