Ankle soreness rules Mitchell Marsh out of the Zimbabwe and New Zealand ODIs

Australian all rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ongoing odi series against Zimbabwe and the forthcoming series against the black caps following an ankle soreness he suffered after his team’s win in the opening one-day international, on Sunday in Townsville.

Marsh is scheduled to fly back to Perth and is expected to be fit for Australia's three-match T20 tour of India, which gets underway on September 21.

With the T20 World Series fast approaching, the focus will be on giving Marsh enough time to recover, Steve smith said

"He's been playing some good white-ball cricket recently," Smith told reporters on Tuesday. "The way we set up our team the other day with bulk allrounders, he was a big part of that. It's disappointing for Mitch but there's some pretty important stuff coming up. He was a big part of our T20 World Series campaign last year and I'm sure there's big plans for him this year. The priority is to get him right for that."

Wicketkeeper batsman Josh Inglish has been named in as Marsh’s replacement in the squad and will remain with the team for the remainder of the Zimbabwe and New Zealand series.

Inglis is currently a part of the London squad who are battling for a spot in the final of the Hundred 2022. He had joined the side as a replacement for Glen Maxwell.
