Mithali Raj nominated for Khel Ratna; Shikhar Dhawan to be conferred with Arjuna Award

The captain of Indian women’s tea, Mithali raj has been nominated for the prestigious Khel Ratna award while the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been conferred with Arjuna award. This news broke on Wednesday evening as not only them but several Indian athletes have been shortlisted for various awards. Neeraj Chopra, India’s first gold medal winner from the track and field category has also been nominated for the Khel Ratna.

Talking about Mithali Raj, the girl from Jodhpur has changed Indian cricket forever. The captain is now the highest women run scorer in International Cricket and broke all kinds of records in India. Since her debut in 1999, she has been very instrumental in India’s victories and the Khel Ratna award will be a perfect achievement in the twilight of her career.

Shikhar Dhawan, the 35 year old, has been conferred with the Arjuna award. The boy has played some magnificent innings for the country and the fans know what his contribution has been for the Indian team. His style of play has brought a lot of joy to every Indian and without his contribution in the 2013 Champions Trophy; India might not have won that tournament in England. He was phenomenal in the 2015 World Series as well. Even though India failed to clinch the trophy, his performance was magnificent and also was the leading run scorer for team India. After that tournament one thing was clear, he was the man for India whenever an International tournament was around. He started the tournament in a brilliant way in the 2019 World Series but because of injury, he was ruled out.

Thus, these two cricketers are a perfect candidate for these two respective awards. Both these players have made our country proud and we are sure that they will keep doing so in the future.
