Mark Bouncher appointed as the head coach of Mumbai

Mumbai have named former South Africa keeper batter, Mark Boucher as their head coach. Boucher, who is currently essaying the same role for the Proteas, will end his stint after the forthcoming World T20 series.

Boucher will replace Mahela Jayawardene, who has served as their head coach since 2017. Mumbai have won three titles under the Sri Lankan legend.  Jayawardene has been promoted to a new position as the Global Head of Performance as a result of the franchise expanding its reach and securing teams in both the SA20 and the UAET20.

In light of Mumbai Emirates and Mumbai Cape Town entering the Mumbai family, the club administration has appointed Mahela Jayawardene and Zaheer Khan to new roles as members of a central team—Global Head of Performance and Global Head of Cricket Development, respectively.

It is an honour and privilege to be appointed as Head Coach of Mumbai," Boucher said. "Their history and achievements as a franchise clearly put them up there as one of the most successful sporting franchises in all of world sport.

"I look forward to the challenge and respect the need for results. It's a strong unit with great leadership and players. I look forward to adding value to this dynamic unit," he added.
