Mushfiqur Rahim set to miss the West Indies tour

Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s former skipper and senior wicket keeper batsman is set to miss the forthcoming tour of West Indies. Mushfiqur already informed the board about his unavailability for the tour as he plans to perform a religious pilgrimage. 

Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud confirmed the news on Friday (May 21) 

''Yes, he( Mushfiqur) will be unavailable in the West Indies tour as he wishes to perform his Hajj,'' Mahmud told the press

It will be a massive blow for the tourists especially in the red ball format considering they will be without the services of four of their key players- Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Nayeem Islam due to respective injuries.  Bangladesh is expected to fly out to West Indies on June 6 for the tour comprising two tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.

As per the draft itinerary, the opening Test will be played at Antigua from June 16-20 while the second game will be played in St.Lucia form June 24-28.

First two of the three T20Is will be played in Dominica on July 2 and 3 respectively while the final game will be played in Guyana on July 7.

The three ODIs are also scheduled in Guyana on July 10, 13 and 16.
