Indian Football League

NEUFC vs CFC, Match Number 12

Preview

NorthEast United has registered only one point from their first two fixtures in the Indian Football League. Like last year, if they want to qualify for the Semi finals, things need to change and it needs to change immediately. Against Chennai, they do have a good chance to change things but the blues were pretty good in their last fixture even when their team looks average on paper. Can NorthEast finally come into winning ways or the Machans will keep marching after a dreadful season last year.

Any honest Highlanders fan will agree that their team was lucky in the last match. Luck may not be the right word as Subhasish made some brilliant saves to keep United into the game. If not him, they would have gone down against Kerala for sure. Coach Khalid Jamil made few changes in the team in the last match and looks like he needs to make some more changes to finalize his playing XI. Deshorn Brown has been ruled out of the fixture after suffering from an injury in the last match. The positive thing however will be that Federico Gallego is all set to take the field and NorthEast desperately needs him on the pitch.

Bozidar Bandovic’s side played some attacking football in the last game and they got the result in their favour. The former champions looked in good shape in their first match and if they keep the momentum going, Chennai can be a very dangerous side. The only thing that will bother them is Rafael Crivellaro’s absence. The Brazilian is out injured and needs four to five weeks to recover. Once he comes back, the team will look much better but until then, Anirudh Thapa will have a huge role to play.

It will be a close game and anyone can win it. However, without Deshorn Brown into the mix, NorthEast might find it difficult to score goals. Thus, Chennai are a bit ahead of them in this match.
