Both the teams had two very different starts in this season. Odisha stunned everyone as they beat Bengaluru in their first match of the season. Javi Hernandez showed his absolute class as the Team defeated the blues 3-1. On the other hand, East Bengal had a very poor start. They had a 1-1 draw against Jamshedpur in the first match while Mohun Bagan bashed them in the second match as they lost the Kolkata derby by 3-0.

Odisha looked like a club on a mission. After finishing last in the previous season, the club is looking for a good result this year. A semi-finals spot may be far fetched but a mid table finish is what they should aim at. The Indian pool that they have is talented and the way they mix it with some quality foreigners. The attackers had the killing instinct in the first match while all the new signings really impressed everyone. Victor Mongil will have the baton to stop East Bengal and against Bengaluru, the defender was rock solid and against a relatively weak East Bengal side, the team should do well and has the potential to leave the match with all the three points.

East Bengal will look for redemption. Their journey in the league so far has been pathetic and things need to change or else the fans will slowly lose interest to watch them play. Losing is a different thing and losing without even making a difference is different. The second one is more appropriate when it comes to the red and gold brigade. The fans were really excited and hopeful after the club signed Chima into their ranks but the African is yet to deliver to even show some trailer of what he can do. Antonio Perosevic is the player who can make all the difference. He is trying his best but he is not getting the support he needs from his teammates.
