The great Ralf Rangwick is one step away to become Manchester United’s interim manager

Ralf Rangwick, the godfather of modern German football is all set to take charge of Manchester United as the interim coach of the team. The 63-year-old will be relinquishing his duty as the head of sports development of Locomotiv Moscow to take charge of the red devils.

Even though the legend is offered a role of interim manager, he will also be given two further years in a consulting role for the development of football in Manchester United. He has been extremely successful as a manager and also as a director of football. Whatever RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg have achieved thus far, a lot of credit goes to this German coach. He is not a coach who has won a lot of trophies but he developed clubs and changed their footballing culture. This is something United needs very much at the moment. They got the players who can win them matches and then tournaments but the culture inside the dressing room is not perfect. After losing 4-1 against Watford, the captain who was also given the marching order in the match went on to a party! United was never like that. Things need to change and Ralf is probably the best one to do so.

Ralf is the reason why Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp are such heavyweight names in world football right now. When Klopp was at Borussia Dortmund, he wanted to play like Rulf’s team and that changed everything for the Liverpool coach. In 2 years time, he changed everything and we know how good Dortmund turned out to be and won Bundesliga and also reached the finals of the Champions League. With Tuchel, he wouldn’t have had a coaching career if not because of Ralf. He was working in a bar when the German appointed him as the U15 coach of Ulm. Interestingly, Tuchel wasn’t really sure whether he had that potential or not but Rulf knew.

He has influenced a lot of other coaches from various parts of the world. Fans are extremely happy and delighted about this and they expect good results under his tenure. Ralf will not be in the dugout when United takes on Chelsea at the end of the weekend but expect him to be there in United’s next match in the Premier League. Interesting times ahead and what a time German coaches are having all over the world!
