South Africa tour of India

IND vs SA, 1st T20I

Preview

After successfully completing the Australian challenge, the men in blue will now host South Africa for a three match T20I series. The series opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Sep 28 at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The visitors have an excellent record in bilateral T20I series in India, as they are yet to lose any since 2015.

India will be riding high on confidence coming into this series. They ticked the majority of boxes in the T20I matches against Australia. Death bowling though remains a major concern. Arshdeep Singh is likely to be fit for this series. He can prove to be a valuable inclusion to this side. He provides that left arm angle and is good at death. Harshal Patel is yet to find his rhythm. The medium pacer has three games to go to return to form.

India’s batting looks potent with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in their ranks. For South Africa, skipper Temba Bavuma returns to lead his troops after a long injury layoff. Tristian Stubbs, David Miller and Aiden Makram will be the key batsmen  for the Proteas. Even the bowling prowess looks decent with Kagiso Rabada and Tabraiz Shami leading the charge.

Hot Fantasy Picks

(i) Batters

Virat Kohli: The champion batter is coming into this fixture on the back of a stellar series against Australia. He is timing the ball nicely, finding the minute gaps, manoeuvring the ball to empty spaces and scoring heaps of runs.

Rohit Sharma: The Indian skipper is a dangerous batter up the order. He is someone who scores runs freely at a brisk rate. Expect Sharma to come hard in this game

(ii) All Rounders

Axar Patel: Patel is in excellent form with ball in hand. He picked 8 wickets in just 3 matches in the recently concluded series against Australia.

(iii) Bowlers

Kagiso Rabada: Rabada will shoulder the bowling responsibility for the men in green. He will be eager to wound India with his timely strikes.

Wayne Parnell: The 33 year old made a resounding return to international cricket against England after a long break from the game. He is a crafty customer with ball in hand, proficient with his pace variations and speed.

(iv) Wicket Keeper

Quinton De Kock: De Kock is a free flowing batsman who has an aggressive approach to the way he plays his cricket. The wicket keeper once set at the crease, can cause some serious headaches for the Indian bowlers.

Risky Captaincy Choice

Yuzvendra Chahal is our pick for this segment. The spin wizard hasn’t been in the best of forms lately but he holds an excellent record against the proteas in this format.

Match Prediction

Both India and South Africa are highly competitive sides. India is slightly ahead of its counterparts in terms of batting. We fancy the hosts to win this encounter.
