Scorchers and Renegades will square off in match 21 of the Aus T20 League 2021 at the Docklands Stadium, Melbourne on Sunday, December 26. With 5 wins in as many games, the three time champions are currently placed at the top of the table. Renegades on the contrary have had a miserable Aus T20 League 2021 thus far. With a solitary win, the men in red are languishing at the bottom of the table. 

Scorchers are in red hot form. Their batting has clicked well, bowling has done exceptionally well and the entire squad has come together as a well oiled unit. In the previous meeting between these two sides (Sco and Ren), the orange brigade emerged victorious. Batting first Scorchers posted a gigantic total of 206. Mitchell Marsh scored a quickfire 86 to help his team cross the 200 run mark. Renegades in reply showed good fight but eventually fell 21 runs short. Batting department comprises the likes of Mitch Marsh, Kurtis Pattinson, Ashton Turner who are recognized for their prowess to hit a long ball. The pace trio of Andrew Tye, Jason Beherendoff and Tymal Mills have been impressive with ball in hand. Peter Hatzoglou and Ashton Agar played a key role in Scorchers previous win. It would be interesting to see how this spin bowling pair performs in today’s match. 

Renegades have an inexperienced batting lineup who have and can get exposed against Scorchers who have a quality new ball attack. The addition of Aaron Finch has however bolstered the batting prowess of the hosts. He played a calculated knock of 68 to keep his side in control of the mounting asking rate. The skipper enjoyed good support from Maddinson (67) at the other end but not enough for a win. Batting order will need to fire on Sunday. Finch, Harvey, Maddinson all have to make valuable contributions with the bat to give their team an outside chance of securing an improbable win. Apart from the last game, bowlers have done all right . The fast bowling trio of Kane Richardson, Reece Topley and James Pattinson have mustered to gain wickets despite being a touch expensive. A lot will depend on Zahir Khan- their frontline spinner and a key member of the squad. He was taken to the cleaners by Marsh in the last game and it would be interesting to see how the Afghan bounces back from it.
