Preview

After a brilliant start to the season, both Scorchers and Strikers will look to go to the top of the table and that’s what makes this fixture a mouthwatering one. The Strikers did lose in the opening fixture against Renegades by just 2 runs but came back strongly in the next match as they defeated Renegades by 49 runs in their own backyard. Scorchers also managed to get all four points when they challenged Heat in their opening match of the season. Kurtis Patterson’s 55 inspired the team to defeat Heat in the first match.

Scorchers have a lot of local young talents and with that they have put out a great squad in the tournament. Almost all the cricketers contributed their bit in the last match to win them the game. Matthew Kelly picked up four in his last match giving away 28 runs. Tye picked up 2 giving up 32 and Behrendorff, Hatzoglou and Agar picked up one each. Even in batting, Turner's quick 28 and Evans maintaining the pace of the match was important as they put the team in a correct position after batting first. The strength of the team is how balanced this side is. Against the Strikers, if they manage to bring the same intensity in the match, they can very well win the match.

Strikers on the other hand are coming from a big win against Renegades. Wes Agar led the bowling line up as he picked up 3 wickets giving away just 17 runs. Worall and Rashid Khan picked 2 each while Garton and captain Siddle picked one each. They however need to sort their batting in order to put pressure on the opponent. Matthew Short gave them a brilliant start by scoring 32 in just 17 balls but no one could keep up with the pace. Against Scorchers, their batsmen will be tested and if they can come out on top, they can very likely win the match.
