Scott Boland replaces injured Cummins for Adelaide Test

Scott Boland is set to replace the injured Pat Cummins for the second test against the Windies in Adelaide, Australian Cricket Board confirmed. He was put to test by the team’s medical staff and wasn’t deemed to make a full recovery from the thigh strain he picked up in the opening test. The Australian skipper’s absence means Australia will be led by Steve Smith for a second straight Day-Night Test with the regular skipper also missing previous year’s showpiece Test against England due to COVID concerns.

"Team medical staff commenced Cummins' recovery in Adelaide but selectors deemed there was not sufficient time for the fast bowler to be fully fit for the match, which starts tomorrow," an Australia Cricket Board statement said

Scott Boland is named Pat Cummins replacement for the Adelaide Test. The 33 year old, who made an amazing debut last year at the MCG, will be hoping to recreate the magic. He picked 18 wickets from three games in that series at an average of 9.86 but has not donned the white jersey since with the team touring Pakistan and Sri Lanka over the last year where the spin prowess was reinforced.

He will now join Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood in a Test match that has strongly favoured the seam bowlers. Cameroon Green will play the role of a fast bowling all rounder while Nathan Lyon will play as the lone spinner in the bowling attack. Cummins is expected to be fit for the forthcoming series against the Proteas.
