Dark Cloud looms over WI tour of Pak as five touring members test positive for COVID-19

The WI tour of Pak is once again in turmoil after five of the touring members were found COVID positive in the recent round of testing. The visitors already are without the services of Roston Chase, Sheldon Cotrell and Kyle Mayers who were earlier tested positive. This fiasco has casted a cloud over the tour. Besides the total of six players ruled out of the SARS-CoV-2, Devon Thomas is out with a finger injury sustained during the opening T20I.

With a T20I and three ODIs still left to play, it would be interesting to see whether the two cricket boards agree to go ahead with the tour or not. Shai Hope, Akeal Hossain and Justin Greaves are the three players among the latest cases within the WI camp. Team Physician Dr. Akshai Mansingh and Assistant Coach Roddy Estwick are the other victims. A Cricket West Indies official stated that all three players henceforth will miss the series and all five sufferers will be isolated from the rest of the Windies squad. They will now be under the supervision of medical officials for at least ten days until tested negative. Cricket West Indies and Pakistan Cricket Board will meet on Thursday to determine the fate of the remaining tour.
