Massive loss for Team India as Virat Kohli quits test captaincy

No one saw it coming. Well, some journalists predicted that the days are coming close but who would have thought that the person who changed Indian cricket in the last 5-6 years will be walking away just like that. In an official statement, King Kohli announced his decision and ever since people on social media are shocked to say the least.

No one can even question or raise a finger regarding his commitment and impact for Indian team in the red ball cricket. He has won series in Australia, England and everywhere in the world. He Unfortunately couldn’t do it in South Africa before he bowed out as a captain. In an official statement, the former captain has thanked Ravi Shastri and his associates for helping him reach to the level he wanted to be in.

He mentioned, “To Ravi Bhai and the support group who were the engine behind this vehicle that moved us upwards in Test Cricket continuously, you all have played a massive role in bringing this vision to life”.

Kohli’s vision has been simple. To be the number one team in test cricket. He along with Shastri and Bharat Arun prepared Indian bowling to be ready for any kind of challenge and literally no one can deny that they are currently the best in the world. He introduced the importance of fitness in Indian cricket and ever since then, the team has grown from strength to strength.

However, these are some of the off the field things that he brought into the team. On-field, the team needs a personality like him. You need a man who can not just talk the talk but walk the walk. The way he guides his bowlers and the way he protects his players is second to none. In Australia and England, where the fans and players can act smart and sledge, Kohli used to step up as a leader and answer back without any fear. The thing may look childish but it used to boost the confidence of other players to give their all for the captain. In test cricket, you need such a person!

It is a shame that we won’t see this man captaining a side ever again. In his official statement, the King also thanked MS Dhoni for believing in Kohli, the captain. “A big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian Cricket forward”.
