Sri Lanka Women and Indian Women will be crossing swords in the first ODI at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on July 1. India women have already enjoyed success in this tour in the form of  a T20I series victory and will be keen to carry forward the winning momentum. Harmanpreet Kaur and co played some cricket in the recently concluded T20I series, as a result won it by a margin of 2-1. This was India’s first series victory after their dismal show in the World Series. India have lost their last three ODI series against New Zealand, England and Australia. They are currently placed at fourth in the ODI rankings. 

Sri Lanka Women on the other hand will look to avenge the T20I series loss with a solid performance in the One Dayers. Led by Chamari Athapathu, Sri Lanka Women made a remarkable comeback to avoid a 3-0 whitewash. After restricting India’s strong batting unit to below 140, the hosts comfortably chased down the total inside 18 overs. With the winning momentum on their side, Sri Lanka Women will be eager to make a strong start to the ODI series.
