The eighth match of the SA20 League between DSG and PR will be played on 15th January 2023 in Kingsmead, Durban, at 05:00 PM IST. Both teams have played two matches this season till now and have one win and one loss each. DSG stands fourth with four points in two games with an NRR of +0.436, while PR is on the peak with five points in the exact matches with an NRR of +1.034. 

On January 13 at Kingsmead, DSG defeated MICT to earn their first victory of the year. After holding MICT to 152-8, the Super Giants completed the target in 16.3 overs with five wickets remaining. Despite the solid overall effort, the bowlers laid the groundwork for a convincing victory.

At the outset, Reece Topley (2-27 off 3 overs) and Kyle Mayers (1-10 off 2 overs) both performed well. The delicate work was then resumed by Hardus Viljoen (2-30 off 3 overs) and Jason Holder (1-27 off 4 overs). Off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen is shown to be a significant addition to the squad in the middle overs, with 4 wickets in 2 games at an economy rate of 7.85.

In the batting department, Heinrich Klaasen (36 off 22 balls), Wiaan Mulder (30 off 26 balls), and Kyle Mayers (34 off 23 balls) all had started but failed to reach a significant total. But in the end, it worked out to be sufficient. Although Quinton de Kock made a rare misstep in the last game, we anticipate him to have a significant effect on this contest.

Following a season-opening defeat to MICT, PR staged a remarkable comeback to defeat JSK by seven wickets in their subsequent game. Boland Park's track featured a lot of bounce and movement, which helped the Royals bowlers overwhelm the Super Kings for only 81. To get a bonus point, the Royals had to reach the goal in less than 16 overs, which they did in 10.3 overs.

The Royals were effectively destroyed by Bjorn Fortuin, who had a figure of 3-16 off 4 overs. On the other hand, Evan Jones, an off-spinner, had fantastic statistics of 3-21 in 2.2 overs. A significant role was also played by Ferisco Adams (2-14 in 3 overs). Additionally, the Royals have Tabraiz Shamsi, a leg spinner who will be effective on this track.

The PR's batting lineup is loaded with talent, starting with Jason Roy and Jos Buttler at the top of the order, then the seasoned Eoin Morgan and captain David Miller. When he scored an unbeaten 29 from 21 balls on a difficult surface in the previous game, Buttler seemed to be in excellent form. We anticipate him to score significantly in this match as he is settling into a strong rhythm.

Match Prediction

The side that bowls better in this match is likely to win since both the \teams have excellent bowling units. Despite this, PR have an advantage since their hitting lineup seems superior on paper. It will be tough to stop Buttler or Miller once they get rolling. The Super Giants are counting on captain De Kock to make a significant play and for their bowers to reappear. Hence, we are backing PR to win this game.
