The third and final match of the three ODI series between India and Sri Lanka will be played on Sunday (January 15) at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram at 01:30 PM IST Live. At the same time, the Indian team has already captured this series. In this match (IND vs SL 3rd ODI), Rohit Sharma will lead India and on the other hand, and Dasun Shanaka will lead Sri Lanka in the final match of this tour. India has already won the series against Sri Lanka by 2-0. And for India in the third ODI, Men in Blue will be eyeing a clean sweep in the 3-match ODI series this Sunday.

The second match of the three ODI series between India and Sri Lanka was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday. India defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The Visitors won the toss and decided to bat against the Hosts. Team India bundled up the Lankan Lions for 215 runs in 39.4 overs with the superb bowling of Kuldeep Yadav and Siraj. Team India won the match by scoring 219 runs for six wickets in 43.2 overs with a solid performance from wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul with the bat.

India has won the three ODI series against Sri Lanka by 2-0 and is still a match to play for. Men in Blue won by four wickets in the second match played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Team India won the first match by 67 runs. Now the third and final match will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, 15th January.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and was elected to bat first at the Eden Gardens on Thursday (January 12). His decision did not prove to be correct. The Lankan team somehow managed to cross 200 runs. The side was reduced to 215 runs in 39.4 overs. In response, the Indian team achieved the target in 43.2 overs despite losing early wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Siraj were the architects of Team India's victory in bowling. At the same time, KL Rahul, experienced in batting, performed brilliantly in the middle order. He took control of the innings after the fall of four wickets for 86 runs and shared a 75-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya. Hardik was dismissed after scoring 36 runs off 53 balls.

However, team India's top order failed to dominate in this match; Rohit(17), Gill(21) & Virat(4) runs all were dismissed in the first batting powerplay of the India inning. Meanwhile, Iyer also played a good knock of 28 runs when India was 86/4 at one stage. But thanks to Hardik and KL for building a solid partnership and taking them to cross the line.

After him, Rahul got the support of the left-handed batter Axar Patel. Both shared a 30-run partnership for the sixth wicket. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 63 off 103 balls and Kuldeep Yadav scored 10 runs off 10 balls.

Both sides last played an ODI match in July 2021, when a second-string Indian side toured the Lankan Lions under Dhawan’s captaincy. India won the series 2-1 as the Sri Lankan team spared themselves from a series whitewash by winning the third ODI. India has won 10 out of their last twelve fixtures against Sri Lanka and will be looking to continue their domination.

Team India is likely to play with the same playing XI after their scintillating performance in the second ODI with the ball. We might see a few changes in Sri Lanka's side for the third ODI on Sunday.

According to records, spinners get more on the pitch of Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The dew factor also matters a lot on this ground.
