Steve Smith has been ruled out from the white ball series against Pakistan

During the three test series against Pakistan, Steve Smith suffered a blow in his elbow which ruled him out of the white ball series against Pakistan. The team already decided to rest some of the key players like David Warner, Jos Hazlewood, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and others. Thus, the team will be missing the service of Steve Smith a lot with so many senior players taking a rest.

In an official statement, the Australian board has said, “Smith inexperienced some discomfort during the three-match test series and, with a full schedule of International cricket over the coming 18 months, it was felt prudent to prioritise recovery and treatment at this time”.

Alex Kountouris, the head of Australia’s Sport Science has expressed his view as he said, “Steve has been experiencing some discomfort in his left elbow during the latter stages of the test series in Pakistan and, given he had an injury with the same elbow last year, we felt it important to manage this proactively”.

Mitchell Swepson, who had a very average Pakistan series, has been called up to replace Steve Smith in the squad.

Australia’s White ball squad – Aaron Finch (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Ben McDermott, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Swepson, Adam Zampa.
