Tasmania drop Tim Paine from domestic contracts
Tasmania have not renewed the contract of Australia’s former test skipper Tim Paine, raising further doubts over the 37 years old playing career.
Paine has been out of action since resigning as the skipper of the Australian test side on the back of an off field scandal in which he sent explicit text messages to a female coworker at Cricket Tasmania in 2017. He took a mental health break post that and there’s miniscule clarity whether he will return to competitive cricket at all.
A Cricket Tasmania spokesperson said on Thursday that the wicket keeper batsman was not offered a fresh contract because he is still on mental health leave by the national governing body Cricket Australia.
